I like the idea of minimalism. A lot. It’s just the actual doing of it that gets so hard. Even (perhaps especially) in writing, and with words in general.
“Simplify, simplify!” huh, Thoreau? Well. Let’s not overlook what T.S. Eliot has to say on the matter, either – very end of the Four Quartets, final stanza:
…”A condition of complete simplicity
(Costing not less than everything)”…
Ain’t that the truth.
